This course is designed for supervisors and managers who manage the work of others and operate within the parameters of a broader strategic and/or business plan. The course provides the guidance and tools with which managers can develop and implement operational plans to ensure that the objectives and strategies outlined in the strategic and/or business plan are met by work teams. On completion of the course, participants will be able to develop complete operational plans, schedule and allocate work to their teams and monitor performance of the team against the plan.

COURSE 2: MANAGING FOR EFFICIENCY AND EFFECTIVENESS
This comprehensive online management course is designed to help experienced managers improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their team or business unit. The course begins with consideration of the role of managers today, and activities and attributes which define ‘effective management’. We then look at how a manager can contribute to improving efficiency and effectiveness in the team’s operations. This course is designed for managers responsible for the planning for, acquisition and management of physical resources to support the efficient functioning of service and manufacturing organizations. In the course, you will learn how to identify resource requirements, and evaluate alternative options for obtaining physical resources. You will also learn about best practices in purchasing and managing the availability of physical resources to support operations. This will also involve understanding the processes required for maintenance of resources and the security of supply. In addition, you will learn about systems used to track inventory, the allocation of resources, resource location/history and the utilization of resources to meet agreed operational targets.
