PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Ulster University MBA, in collaboration with GMA, offers a significant return on investment for both individuals leaders and sponsoring organizations.

On successful completion of the program, participants receive the LEVEL 7 Extended Diploma in STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT (ATHE) and the MASTERS’ IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION from Ulster University, one of the largest business schools in the  U.K.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

The MBA Pathway Program progresses through 2 components:

PART 1: Level 7 Extended Diploma in Strategic Management (online)

PART 2: TOP-UP MBA Program (attendence at Ulster University)

Part 1 of your program is delivered online by Global Management Academy and on successful completion, you will receive the Level 7 Extended Diploma in Strategic Management (ATHE). Part 2 of your program is delivered by attendance at Ulster University or Global Workshops conducted by Ulster University and its affiliate colleges conducted in locations worldwide (contact us for details on programs in your location), and online support for your business research project. LEARNING PROGRAM

The program is conducted part time over 2 years, and delivered through:

  • Online Learning through the Global E-Learning Portal
  • Webinars and 1-2-1 web tutorials.
  • Virtual Community Learning and networking.
  • Attendance at Ulster University or Global Workshops conducted by Ulster University and its affiliate colleges in selected locations worldwide (contact us for programs in your region).
  • Duration: Part 1 of your program can be completed in 12 months, and will require a personal commitment of approximately 12 hours per week. Part 2 of the  program requires attendance at a number of Ulster University Global workshops and can be completed in 9 to 12 months.
  • Tutor Support is available through email, web conferencing and phone, throughout your program.

PROGRAM CONTENT

Your program comprises the following courses:

PART 1: LEVEL 7 EXTENDED DIPLOMA IN STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT

  • PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR LEADERSHIP AND STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT - In this module learners develop and in depth understanding of the leadership behaviors which can help shape the framing and commitment to the organizational vision and strategic direction, and develop their personal leadership and management skills to deliver on the strategic agenda of the organization.
  • ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOUR  - In this module, learners will develop an understanding of how organizational behaviour, structure, culture, motivation, creativity and leadership impact on an organization’s effectiveness and efficiency.
  • STRATEGIC PLANNING - In this module, managers will develop the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to develop a strategic plan providing the foundation for cascade strategic business plans across the organization.
  • FINANCE FOR STRATEGIC MANAGERS - In this module, managers will develop knowledge, understanding and skills that will enable them to analyze internal and publicly available financial information, to enable informed strategic decision making.
  • RESEARCH FOR STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT - In this module, managers will develop the knowledge and skills with which to plan, implement and present the findings of a structured research project in strategic business development for an organization.
  • STRATEGIC MARKETING - In this module, learners will acquire the knowledge and skills to analyze the markets and competitive environment to develop the marketing strategy for organizations and align and enable such strategy to enable realization of the  organization’s strategic priorities.
  • INTERNATIONAL FINANCE - In this module learners will gain an understanding of the functioning of international financial markets, and learn how to analyze the role of these markets creating opportunities and risks for organizations, especially those operating in a multinational context.
  • DEVELOPING ORGANIZATIONAL VISION AND STRATEGIC DIRECTION - In this module, learners will develop the knowledge and skills with which to analyze the business environment to help frame and build consensus around a unique and transformative vision and strategic direction for the organization.
  • STRATEGIC HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT - In this module, learners will acquire an in depth understanding of contemporary HRM theory, and develop the knowledge and skills with to inform and articulate the human resources management strategy for an organization.
  • INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS ENVRIONMENT - The unit will enable learners to explore the changing international business environment and develop knowledge and understanding of how organizations respond. Learners will gain experience in assessing strategic options and making appropriate recommendations.

 

PART 2: ULSTER UNIVERSITY MBA TOP-UP

  • ECONOMICS AND THE BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT - This module examines the internal and external environments within which firms must operate and helps managers to audit their business environment so as to establish a strategic approach to their business activity.
  • INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP - The overall aim of the module is to develop a deeper understanding of innovation and entrepreneurship in a specific economic sector or organizational setting. The teaching seeks to explore drivers and forms of innovation; through the identification, evaluation, and exploitation of opportunities.
  • DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION - This module aims to provide students with an understanding of digital transformation in a range of organizational contexts. It will provide students with an understanding of digital disruption and how tools and frameworks can be applied in the planning and implementation of a digital transformation strategy.
  • OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT - This module focuses on the decisions that managers need to take with regard to operations management; these include designing the appropriate operation for the business, planning & controlling operations activities and managing operational performance.
  • BUSINESS PROJECT - This module provides the opportunity for students to demonstrate the ability to diagnose and investigate a live, complex business issue, to locate the work within the body of contemporary knowledge, to collect and analyze data, to derive supportable conclusions and to make practical and actionable recommendations for change, improvement or enhancement of current practice.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Candidates are required to have completed a first degree and / or management qualification at Level 6 or above, and have at least 3 years middle management experience.

Candidates with a first language other than English require IELTS Level 6 or equivalent.

Entry to the MBA Top-up component requires a 'Merit' in the Level 7 Extended Diploma.

LEARNING FORMAT

LEARNING RESOURCES

All learners have automatic membership of the GMA Online Learning Portal and associated libraries  for 18 months from the date of enrollment. All Learners also have access to BPIR.com – the world’s leading resource for business excellence learning.

In Part 2 of the program, all learners will have membership of Ulster University’s online library and associated resources

ASSESSMENT

Candidates are required to complete written evidence-based assignments for each course of approximately 5000 to 8000 words, underpinned by the theoretical frameworks contained in the courses. A final Business Research project (for the MBA top-up) will normally require completion of an assignment of 10,000 words.

ATHE CERTIFICATION

On successful completion of the program, participants receive the LEVEL 7 EXTENDED DIPLOMA IN STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT (OFQUAL accredited).

MBA PROGRESSION

On successful completion of the Global Postraduate Diploma, you will receive the ATHE Level 7 Extended Diploma in Strategic Management. You will then be eligible to progress to the Ulster University MBA degree top-up program.
